Claims Specialist - Subrogation

Reports to: General Counsel
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
This position supports subrogation efforts under the general supervision of the Associate General Counsel by performing specialized duties relating to the recovery of funds from third-parties on behalf of TML Health (aka TML Health Benefits Pool and TML MultiState Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool) and its members.
Qualifications / Skills Required
Coordinates the internal review of employee benefit claims for third-party liability and asserting subrogation rights.
Evaluates claim files for subrogation potential and develops recovery strategies.
Communicates with responsible third-parties and their representatives to discuss subrogation claims and negotiate repayments.
Negotiates with third-party insurance companies and attorneys to reach agreements and maximize recovery.
Ensures compliance with state and federal privacy and security regulatory requirements
Maintains files and records for all subrogation claims files.
Prepares reports on subrogation activities.
Performs related duties and provides assistance to Contracts Specialist and Compliance Officer as needed.

Legal research and writing experience preferred
Minimum three (3) years of claims experience required
Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, business, insurance, public administration, or a closely related field plus a minimum of three (3) years’ experience; or equivalent of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Adjuster’s license or other insurance certification preferred
