Responsibilities

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

This position supports subrogation efforts under the general supervision of the Associate General Counsel by performing specialized duties relating to the recovery of funds from third-parties on behalf of TML Health (aka TML Health Benefits Pool and TML MultiState Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool) and its members.

  • Coordinates the internal review of employee benefit claims for third-party liability and asserting subrogation rights.
  • Evaluates claim files for subrogation potential and develops recovery strategies.
  • Communicates with responsible third-parties and their representatives to discuss subrogation claims and negotiate repayments.
  • Negotiates with third-party insurance companies and attorneys to reach agreements and maximize recovery.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal privacy and security regulatory requirements
  • Maintains files and records for all subrogation claims files.
  • Prepares reports on subrogation activities.
  • Performs related duties and provides assistance to Contracts Specialist and Compliance Officer as needed.


Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Legal research and writing experience preferred 
  • Minimum three (3) years of claims experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, business, insurance, public administration, or a closely related field plus a minimum of three (3) years’ experience; or equivalent of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Adjuster’s license or other insurance certification preferred
